The Gullies Farm—modern heritage living & agriculture with integrity.

A place to cultivate and create.

The Gullies is a farm full of character and soul, run by hosts, Laura and Richard Morrison.

Our 250ha sheep and beef farm is full of native bush, rolling hills and views to Taranaki Maunga, Mt. Ruapehu and Kapiti Island. We run Wiltshire sheep as well as our very own composite sheep breed and Hereford cattle.

We want to offer a place for artists to create, to foster connection between agriculture and aspiration, community and connection.

For artists in residence, it’s yours to make home. We hope it inspires your arts practice as much as it inspires us each day.

The Gullies Cottage—a space to make yours, and yours alone.

A place to incubate ideas & work without your everyday pressures.

The Gullies Cottage is a beautiful self-contained house for guests most of the year, run by hosts, Laura and Richard Morrison.

The cottage is thoughtfully finished with everything needed for a comfortable and unique stay, immersed within and overlooking the spectacular Gullies farm.

We take care of the utility bills, arrange for regular cleaning (which also acts as us carrying out our duty of care to you, the artist) and pay a modest stipend of $350 p/w to the artist.

We offer three residency periods. Choose to start in September, October or January. For the duration of the residency, the cottage is yours and yours alone.
